Our Sustainability Goals

Reducing our environmental impact

Transforming Water. Enriching Life.®

We are committed to our purpose of transforming water and enriching the lives of our customers and their communities. Each day, we work hard to ensure that our customers' water systems operate sustainably, helping them mitigate climate and water risks by delivering connected, resilient technologies that provide healthy and safe water resources. As we continue our sustainability journey, we are furthering our commitment to operate sustainably and mitigate our environmental impacts.

As part of this effort, we have set ambitious goals to increase recycling and reuse of water in our facilities by 2035 and reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

By 2035, Evoqua's facilities will seek to recycle and reuse more water than withdrawn.

Mitigating Climate Risk

To address water scarcity and impacts from climate change*, Evoqua has adopted a goal of reusing more water than it withdraws from the source by 2035. This goal will be achieved if the volume of water reused in our facilities on an annual basis is greater than 100% of the volume of water we withdraw from source during the same period. As part of our path toward achieving this goal, we intend to create water management plans for our facilities to increase efficiency in our water usage, and implement additional water recycling and reuse initiatives, using our own technology.

Evoqua plans to set science-based targets by 2023 that will assist us with our goal of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Reaching Net-Zero Emissions

Over the next two years, Evoqua plans to use the Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) methodology to evaluate our scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. The SBTi provides a framework for companies to set emission reduction targets that align with leading climate science and sector-relevant impacts. Currently, more than 2,000 businesses around the world are working with the SBTi.

Following the SBTi methodology will enable us to develop greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C pathway. We view the development of reduction targets as an important next step on our journey to reaching our goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Our Commitment to Sustainability in Action

At Evoqua, we work to improve the sustainability of our internal operations. We do this by continually prioritizing our good governance practices, reducing our environmental footprint, and being socially responsible for our communities and employees.
